My name is Lily, I am 25 and I am born in England. From the age of 8 to 16 I lived in France. During that time I was the only English student in my class, so you could say I was thrown in the deep end to learn French! I became fluent in just under 2 years. I obtained an A star grade in my English GCSE at the young age of 11. I was top of my class across all subjects for most of my trimesters at high school. Not bad for the only English student! When I was 16 we moved back to England, I decided I wanted to start working alongside studying for my Access to Higher Education diploma at Leeds City College. I started an apprenticeship as an Early years educator at an outstanding childminders setting: Julie’s childminding in Ilkley. During my time there I completed my level 4 Early years educating course. I also completed a TEFL course with the plan to take my career abroad someday to teach English as a foreign language. I loved every minute of working as a childminder’s assistant. I worked alongside Julie for 4 years, at which point I decided I was in need of an adventure. I was contacted by a family in French Polynesia who needed a nanny. I jumped at the opportunity and flew out the following month. I planned to live here for a year, 5 years later I am still living here in Tahiti. Now a surf addict! I taught myself how to sew in the first year of living here. I took a break from working with children and focused on setting up my very own clothing brand. For the next 3 years I worked hard to keep up with the demand for my cute summer outfits. Last year I received a phone call from Sandy, founder of Tahiti International School. She said she was looking for an English teacher to teach Kindergarten. Another new adventure opened up to me! I officially became Miss Lily at TIS in August 2022. I absolutely adore teaching, bring on this new school year. I can’t wait!
