Nancy Choug
I was born and raised in Tahiti. I began learning Mandarin in middle school, and it's a language I've always enjoyed. Consequently, I decided to pursue further studies in this field. After obtaining my baccalaureate in 2014 from La Mennais High School, I pursued a Bachelor's degree in English-Chinese Applied Foreign Languages. Following the completion of my degree, I went to Taipei, Taiwan, to enhance my Mandarin proficiency. I stayed there for 2 years, during which I improved my language skills and immersed myself in a new culture. Currently, I have been teaching Mandarin for over 3 years on my home island, Tahiti. I am delighted to be able to share the love for the Chinese language and culture with children.
Sophie IRLES
Spanish Teacher
I am a mother of two children, aged 11 and 16. I have been teaching Spanish at TIS for 6 years, both in primary and secondary levels. I have had various teaching experiences of the Spanish language, combining the teaching of the language itself (syntax, vocabulary, phonetics) with artistic creativity (song, painting, puppets, dance, and shadow play). I have also led various projects and artistic workshops centered around UNESCO days. I am happy to continue my teaching at TIS, which provides the structure and support necessary to implement beautiful projects in line with an alternative education approach aimed at developing a child's autonomy, knowledge, and social skills.
I hold a master's degree in Spanish and French as a Foreign Language, which has allowed me to teach diverse audiences (of different ages and nationalities) in various countries (France, Chile, Mexico, Czech Republic, Polynesia). I lived in Latin America in Chile and Mexico before returning to France and moving to Polynesia 18 years ago. Since then, the Spanish language has become fluent and natural for me, and I have never stopped practicing it. Speaking this language is, for me, living the culture that has always fascinated me.
